When I said, “Mommy, the colours are so pretty,” she replied, “The fireworks are pretty, sweetheart.” Then, I said, “No, Mum, the music.” I was staring at the Orchestra. When I hear music, my mind plays a bunch of colours corresponding to it. This phenomenon is known as Sound to Colour Synesthesia. Apparently, not too many people experience it, and I feel really special to know I’m one of the few who do.

A less intriguing and more boring story is this. Ever since I was a baby, I could not sleep unless my foot was tapping along to some sort of sound that was going on in the background. Now, I play music when I go to sleep, and I still can’t get to sleep without tapping my foot.

Like a Prison (Original Song)I’ve been having a bit of...

Like a Prison (Original Song)
I’ve been having a bit of writer’s block recently, but tonight I quickly wrote a new song about the town that I live in and how sometimes it feels like a prison more than it does home.

Who Some of my Inspirations/Idols are and why.

Tre Cool - When I was four, I heard him play drums in When I Come Around. I’ve told this story before, but that’s why he’s my idol.
Avril Lavigne - She does what she loves. She’s a punk girl like I am and doesn’t care what people think.
Simple Plan - I’ve always been inspired by them. I can relate to their songs and they know how to write them to both appeal to their audience and have them relate to them. That takes some skill.
Johnny Richter (of KottonMouth Kings) - I have always had a mind for hip-hop/rap. He was just a kid from a small town in Orange County, California, and he was just messing around with his friends rapping to LL Cool J and they formed a group. And thirteen years into that group, he did a solo album. He is probably the most talented rapper I know and he is still so down-to-earth. He hasn’t let his success go to his head.
My dad, Patrick Walsh Sr. - He’s always supported my musical endeavors. From the time I was four years old and wanted to be a drummer until now, when I’m almost seventeen and trying to follow my dreams of going to Berklee, he has been completely supportive and helped me in every way he knew how. He has been a musician and has taught me everything I know about music and the music industry. He’s my biggest fan.
John Mayer - His songs inspire me because they hit me on an emotional level that no other artist has ever been able to hit with a song. I feel the need to hit on the fact that I have also choreographed to at least seven John Mayer songs. They motivate me.

You and I - Ingrid Michaelson (Acoustic Cover)I love this song...

You and I - Ingrid Michaelson (Acoustic Cover)
I love this song and I love her voice. When I was about nine or ten years old, I had this overwhelming inspiration to write songs and music. Now, after almost seven years, I have bookshelves filled with notebooks that are just for my music and lyrics. Now, I’m not saying that they are all neccessarily good lyrics, but it is just simply my feelings and passion (which I clearly have a lot of) put onto paper. Whenever anything happens in my life, whether it is good or bad, it goes onto paper as a poem, lyrics, or some sort of guitar riff. Writing music is what keeps me focused and calm. I don’t know exactly where I’d be if I didn’t have music to keep me grounded.

What I Play and Why I Decided to Play it.

Drums - When I was four, I heard the drum fills in When I Come Around by Green Day and was totally inspired to learn how to play the drums like that.
Singing - My mother is a very talented singer, so I took after her in that every time a good song came on, I would just sing as loud and with as much feeling as I could. I have always wanted to be a singer, whether it be in a band, on broadway, or just out on the streets as a street performer.
Viola - In the third grade, I joined my school band and had the choice of whatever orchestral instrument I wanted to play. I decided I liked the strings, but everyone wanted to play the violin. So I chose something different - the viola. And I loved it. It was probably the best decision I ever made.
Saxophone - In the fifth grade, I moved, and the band program at my new school did not offer the viola, so I needed to choose a new instrument. I wanted to play percussion, but they would not allow me, since I had prior training and could already read the music when everyone else couldn’t, so I chose the saxophone.
Acoustic Guitar - My father brought home an acoustic guitar one day that someone had left out on the curb. He restrung it and fixed it up a little bit, and I decided I was going to learn how to play it. I picked it up one day, and would not put it down until I learned chords. I succeeded and since then I have purchased two new guitars that sound a lot better than the run down one I taught myself on.
Electric Bass - My brother started a band when I was fourteen, and did not know any bassists. I went out and got a very cheap, used bass, and went online. I taught myself how to play it and couldn’t put it down. Even after the band gave me the boot, I continued to play in my church Contemporary Youth Ensemble.
Electric Keyboard/Piano - When I was fifteen, I found my brother’s old keyboard in my basement. I took it upstairs, dusted it off, and plugged it in. I had very little training - only what I had learned in sixth grade music class (where middle C was, basic notes/chords). But I sat there in front of that keyboard for at least three hours a day and within a few weeks, I had gotten the hang of it. After I had taught myself some things on the keyboard, I took what I had learned and went to my Great Aunts house and tried it out on her piano. It sounded different, but was essentially the same concept. I picked up her sheet music and sat down and played for an hour or so.

Your Lies (Original Song)

Your Lies (Original Song)

I'm going to post an original song in a few minutes, but I'll tell you the story behind it first.

So, the song I’m about to post (as soon as it’s done processing), is entitled Your Lies. I wrote it a year and a half/two years ago after a really rough breakup. This boy and I had dated for a little while, and I found out that he lied about ever loving me in the first place. He took my heart and strung me along and then stomped on my feelings. So I took all of the truth and emotion and put it into this song. I never had a chance to record it until tonight. Tell me what you think?

I took the song Lean On Sheena by Bouncing Souls and slowed it...

I took the song Lean On Sheena by Bouncing Souls and slowed it down and played it on my acoustic. I started off when I was four years old. I heard the song When I Come Around by Green Day and the drum fills inspired me. That was when I asked my parents to get me a drum set. From that point on, music was my entire life. I sing and have since taught myself how to play the drums, acoustic guitar, electric keyboard, electric bass, and have received lessons for the saxophone and viola. My dad has really been an inspirational figure in my life. He has taught me basically everything I know about music and the music industry. Over the past thirteen years, he has supported me in all of my music-related endeavors, such as taking me to various auditions, concerts, and musical theater productions.
All I have ever wanted to do was be a musician, until a few years ago when I decided to get into the sound and recording aspect of the music industry. I want to know how recording and producing works and how it’s done. One day I hope to own my own recording studio, so I can record both myself and other rising artists.
